What is an Item Upgrader in Pokemon Go?

The upgrader for items adds a new widget to the top of the Angel and Cash Upgrade windows. The Manager is priced at 33 billion Angel Investors and offers no gameplay benefit aside from making it easier to find and purchase upgrades.

The item will retain the stats it had prior to upgrading, and will also receive an additional bonus from its new base type. This bonus will be randomly chosen from the following options: the chance to acquire weapons with a greater damage range or an enhanced reload speed or a chance to gain a higher max defense roll.
The amount of extras you can get with an upgrade depends on the number of upgrades performed. Each upgrade will boost the extras by three points maximum. In addition, each upgrade will also increase the stat that is used to determine the main one by +1.
In addition to the stat increase certain upgrades can also give a random secondary boost. These boosts are valuable and should be considered when deciding on which items to upgrade. Some boosts are beneficial in certain builds (such as Whistan's shield for FB sorcs) while others could provide significant value to specific collectors.
Some items have a built-in boos which is less useful when upgraded. For example, the Goldwrap provides extra potion slots. They are usually upgraded to inject more value into the perfect or nearly perfect item.
Costs
Upgrades have some associated costs. The first is the upgrade itself. The cost for this upgrade can be costly and is dependent on the new ilvl of the item and the number perks it gains. It can also be costly to upgrade an item to a higher level (such as Explorer > Champion, or Veteran > Heroic).
The second is the cost of the items required for an upgrade. The items used are usually either Power Dices (dropped by monsters 21and up) or Minerals and Erons (obtainable by completing specific Mists of Pandaria or Warlords of Draenor quests). The amount of these items required can be seen in the inventory of an upgrade vendor.
It takes time to upgrade an item. It can take 8 hours depending on the size of an upgrade. The base stats of an upgraded item are calculated based upon its new ilvl and other characteristics. This calculation determines the new Armor Class bonuses, damage dice, and other important stats. In some instances, an upgrade can grant additional benefits. These perks are available on a table.
In rare instances, the upgrade will replace only the highest-costing perks. Sometimes, the upgrader may make other modifications to an item, like changing the damage type of a weapon or or removing an operative or unwieldy property. These modifications are based on an item's ilvl and may require special materials, such as adamantine.
Success Rate
The upgrading of an item is dependent on chance. Like any random system there is a chance that it will not succeed. There are several ways to increase your chances of success. This includes the use of an Upgrade Pity or the addition extra materials to your upgrade.
The Upgrade Pity can be bought from the NPC for smithing in Lost Ark. It increases the chances of an upgrade being successful by a certain percentage. This is similar to the luck bonus that certain items offer however it is more solid. This can be added to any weapon or armor, and is used three times.
It is also possible to add a range of additional elements to the upgrade, thereby increasing its chance of success. These are shown in a window above the + button. There are however limitations to this, and the largest amount of material that can be added is shown right above the + button in the user interface.
Another way to increase the odds of an upgrade succeeding is by using the item known as the Blacksmith Blessing or an upgraded version of it. This item can be helpful in the event that your item or weapon is nearing or has reached the maximum level of its tier. It will allow you to upgrade the equipment to the next level without having to worry about it breaking.
If an upgrade fails it will be restored to its previous state. This is typically a downgrade, but could also be an upgrade. It is recommended to save an upgrade when you're near the highest level of an item, and to use it as a last resort.
Kafra has a number of products that can be used in order to increase the likelihood of a successful upgrade. For example, upgrading a piece of equipment with HD Oridecon or HD Elunium multiple times will provide you with a higher chance of success. Also, increasing item upgrades to receive a Double Mint from Shoe-Minting a maximum of five times will increase the success rate.
Failure Rate
The upgrader of an item allows players to add an extra slot to their equipment. These slots can be used to apply an enhancement or enchantment on an item. It is important to remember that not all items are upgradeable. The enchantment and upgrade rate depends on the rank of the item. The higher the rank, the more zen and items you will need to upgrade it.
The system is expensive, especially if you are looking for top-quality gear. It could cost as high as 100,000 Z and 100 Carnium to upgrade an armor or weapon. As you progress in rank, the chances of success diminish. However, you can make use of cash shop items to increase your chances of upgrading your item effectively.
Normal Upgrade is a fundamental upgrade that can be applied to armor, weapons and bikes. It uses different core grades based on the kind of item. In general, items with lower grades will require lower grade cores and higher-end items will require more expensive cores.
You must have the correct number of cores to do a normal upgrade. Click the button next the item you'd like to upgrade once you've got the cores. The upgrade window will display a percentage indicator of your success chances. The percentage is based on the level of upgrade for the item and the core type you have chosen.
You can also choose an item with a safeguard which will safeguard the item in case of failure. This protection isn't free however it will cost less than purchasing a new item. The safeguard can only be used one time per upgrade and will not expire until it is used again.
The interface for the item upgrader is a little difficult, but not difficult to navigate. The main menu is visible on the left and the upgrade window is on the right.
