WoW Item Upgrades
Item upgrades--more commonly known as "upping"--are enchantments and items that can be incorporated into armor and weapons, increasing their stats. These upgrade items increase the gauge of an item by a specific amount of points. Their costs scale depending on their rarity.
A perfectly made version of this armor is highly prized in the melee PvP community due to its ability to limit weapon damage.
Type-restricted upgrades
Upgrades are a crucial part of the equipment crafting process. Upgrades can increase the effectiveness of an item, make it stronger or provide a bonus effect. They also affect the item's appearance. While some upgrades are universal, others have special rules for applying to armor or weapons. The wrong upgrade could ruin a great weapon, and may even lead to it becoming unusable.
In general you can only upgrade an item of equipment to the level of its most advanced counterpart. This means that you can upgrade the helms, body armors and shields and gloves to the same level as their highest-level counterparts. item upgrading can be upgraded up to the level equivalent of a sword. However, this doesn't increase the weapon's damage output and could decrease its value in trade.
To upgrade an item, you need to purchase flightstones and crests. The amount of each depends on the level of the item and slot. Upgrades to swords, for instance, will cost more flightstones compared to an upgrade to an cloth. Also, you can get discounts on the amount of flightstones or crests needed to upgrade an item.
The diamond-shaped indicator on the item is filled when it is upgraded. Each step raises the item's Tier level by one-third. Tier 3 is the highest level. Depending on the type of item it could require a different number of upgrades to get to this point. It is important to note that any processes that mount a disk should not be run during an upgrade. Also, you must make sure that the disk you're upgrading is not being used as an system drive.
Enchantment allows you to transform white or Common items to rare or blue items. Eleanor's Enchantment Shop located in the Capital District is where you can do it. This process does not add gem or rune slots to the equipment, but it does change the size of the equipment. It increases the size of the equipment by the size of a creature 2 categories smaller, so for instance that a Blaster Pistol is deemed Small, whereas a Stormtrooper Armor is Medium.
Universal upgrades
Universal upgrades are upgrades which can be applied to any type of equipment. This includes weapons and armor. The upgrade components are typically random, but they can also be gathered by completing Side Quests. Universal upgrades are either temporary or permanent and can also be combined with Power-Ups. They can be linear or branching.
Universal Upgrades start when "internal technology" can give sentient beings new capabilities that they are unlikely to develop naturally. Implants and prostheses are both examples of internal technology. This type of improvement is not the same as medical internal technology which aims to restore the capabilities of nature. It is the start of the process that will alter civilizations completely. The universal upgrade is a complicated process that can take a long time to complete. The process can be classified into two types that are complete success and partial failure.
It's similar to the manner that resort upgrades are carried out at Disney or Universal. In the case of WDW these upgrades are usually due to operational needs like room availability or overbooking. In the case of Universal, this could be to move guests from one resort to another one that is open. This is not intended to be mean-spirited but it is something that can be inevitable in the present climate.
Unlike Runes, Sigils and Jewels, which can only be applied to certain types of equipment (armor weapons, trinkets or weapons), universal upgrades can be applied to any equipment. They can also be applied to multiple items at the same time. They are therefore more flexible than other types of upgrade. However, this flexibility can create problems when upgrading items in a specific gear path, because it increases the item level of all the pieces within that path.

Jewels
Jewels are upgrades that can be added to armor, weapons, and other. The reagents and gems used to create them give different stat bonuses and secondary effect. They can be found in Golden Chests and Rift Incursions. They can be bought from a master craftsman for gold or Karma. Jewels can be made using a jewelry table by using 5 of the same reagent type and one gem to create a jewel with either a higher or lower level. This process is similar to upgrading a stone at the gemcrafting table.
Jewel levels are determined by the number of modifiers that they have. Jewels with higher tiers have more modifiers than lower-tier jewels. The primary effect of a gemstone is determined by the tier it is in, and the secondary effect is random and players can make use of luck potions to increase the chances of having better secondary effects.
Like other upgrade components jewels can be put into an item with an appropriate socket to boost the. For example Garnet Pebble (gemstone) and an Adorned Garnet Jewel (jewel) both offer a boost to strength, but the Garnet Pebble only increases regular hits while the Garnet Jewel also boosts the player's strength. Jewels can be placed in every level of weapon, armor, and accessory slots, and some trinkets of lesser rarity or exotic that require a slot that is not used.
Gems are a specific mechanic for DMs that allows items to feel special to their owners. Jewels come with a variety of upgrade paths that allow players to customize and find the perfect combination for them. They can upgrade their equipment with new gems if they feel that the original set is no longer the best.
Requirements
WoW's item upgrades allow players to increase the levels of their equipment set pieces, weapons and trinkets over their current level of items from specific Mists of Pandaria and Warlords of Draenor sources. These upgrades increase the stats of the base item and some also offer special effects (such as Dolphin's Grace which allows players to feel like dolphins while swimming). Players can obtain these upgrades at any upgrader NPC, or by salvaging the items that contain them, with a variety of items dropping different upgrade components.
The upgrade process can be a bit complicated however, it's not difficult. The player first selects the item he wants to upgrade and then clicks the Upgrade button. A window will open with the various upgrades available for the item. The window will show the upgrade level, the upgrade type bonus (such a Tech Points or a Quality Chance) and the cost of upgrading. The upgrade level is displayed in an upper bar on the top of the screen. the upgrade type bonus is displayed below it.
If item upgrading chooses to make an upgrade, the item will be delivered to the NPC who upgraded the item who will explain how to upgrade the item. The player will then need to provide the proper currency for that upgrade, and could be asked to supply additional materials should they require it. These requirements are based on the item level with weapons generally having higher requirements than armor.
Many upgrade recipes contain an acceptable material list as well as the required components. This list contains the other upgrade components that can be used to upgrade an item. It also contains a flag that indicates whether or not the item has a guarantee of a boost. It is crucial to know because the value of an upgraded item can vary significantly depending on the extras it has, with well rolling gear much more valuable than those that are not upgraded.
