Path of Exile Item Upgrading
Upgrades to items allow players to upgrade their weapons and gear by adding new affixes, increasing the base stats of the item or providing additional benefits. To upgrade items, players must have the item in their inventory and access the kiln.
Usually items with weak bases (like rings) can be upgraded to a more powerful base while items with strong bases such as eth titans aren't affected much in their stats after being upgraded.

Upgrade components can be added to weapons, armors trinkets, weapons, and gathering tools. They provide an attribute bonus, or an additional benefit, while the equipment is being used. They can be bought from vendors, or found in loot, thrown away by enemies or received as a reward for missions or chests. Some upgrades additionally have special cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require the equipment to be above a certain point before they are upgraded.
In order to upgrade an item of armor, the player must choose it and click on the Upgrade button in the toolbar. This will show on the right-hand side of the screen a preview showing the expected upgrade statistics and the required component or materials.
There are three kinds of upgrade components including universal upgrades, prefix upgrades, and suffix upgrades. Universal upgrades, which include gems, can be placed in any type of equipment and offer less bonuses than upgrade components that are type-restricted. Infusions, which can only be placed in ascended gear or legendary equipment, are the same as jewels but provide larger bonuses and are not able to be placed in any other type of equipment. Suffix upgrades can be added to gathering tools. They will add the suffix to the end of the names of items. For instance, adding a Glyph would make the staff wrapping of Minor Vigor into a Canthan staff wrapping of Minor Vigor.
In the case of upgrades to gather tools If a player replaces one glyph with another the old glyph will be returned to the inventory. However, replacing any other upgrade component will destroy it, with the exception of the inscriptions that can be swapped.
Leveling
The upgrade system in Path of Exile has some significant changes from the previous versions. Gear is now broken down into tracks and items can only be upgraded a certain number of times before being "leveled out." The cost for upgrades increases with each level up, but the required materials do not increase as much. This allows players to concentrate their efforts on a select few items and maximize the impact of these items, rather than spreading upgrade costs over multiple pieces.
If an item is finished being leveled, it will be able to receive an upgrade set of components, and an increase in the probability that the upgrade will succeed. This bonus is referred to as the Artisan's Power and it is reset to 0 on failure or increases when the upgrade succeeds.
Once a piece is upgraded to the maximum level, it can receive the affixes needed to enhance its abilities. The amount of affixes available is determined by the item's type. For instance an uncommon or unique weapon with a standard base will only have two affixes, whereas a legend armor will have eight affixes.
Each upgrade requires an amount of Flightstones and crests to complete depending on the item's current level and the item slot it's in. Typically, weapons will require more Flightstones to upgrade than other types of equipment.
If an item does not reach its maximum level, the NPC grants the player the option to transfer it to another character and then re-infuse it with a new set or upgrades. This procedure can take as long as two hours and cost the same amount of material. However, it has a lower rate of success.
To measure the height of a building engineers utilize a level to compare the measurement with a known reference point like a benchmark, or the elevation of the ground. This is known as a "level loop." It involves taking readings using the backsight rod and level, then turning the level and taking the foresight rod reading. This method makes sure that buildings are constructed to a high standard of accuracy and safety.
Rerolling
Rerolling is the process of altering the upgrade components of an item. It is an important aspect of the game and can significantly enhance an item's strength or damage, as well as other characteristics. This can be done via the menu for items or by using the Reroll button on an upgraded item. Rerolling items can be expensive and should be used sparingly.
The game lets players recycle upgraded items, which are used to acquire Reroll tokens. These tokens can be used to upgrade either the original item or another similar item. Recyclable items come with a gauge that shows the level of upgrade. The amount of level that has been filled is contingent on the rarity and the upgrade cost of the item.
In the past, certain upgrade items were affixed with priority that made them easier to roll for than others. This meant that you'd get the most crucial stats to your build more often than other items. These included things like the armor's total armor, thorns and duration reduction stats that are controlled or the weapon's bonus attack speed and critical strike chance.
This has changed since the latest patch. Priority affixes have been removed and all upgrades will have the same odds of rolling for each stat. This can be a great or bad thing dependent on your needs and requirements from your equipment.
Each upgraded item may also be equipped with a special, fixed-value bonus that increases its strength by a certain percentage. These bonuses are added into the standard affixes. The more you improve an item, the better the chance of receiving a unique bonus.
The game also includes several sets, which give a set bonus when three or more upgraded items from the same set are installed on the same unit. This is a great way to give the character more power without spending a lot of money.
Many players choose to reroll their equipment and weapons, particularly in the beginning of the game. Rerolling can provide a much faster route to becoming a strong character which allows them to achieve higher levels and progress in the game much more quickly.
Sets
Sets are collections of elements that can be put together in different ways. They can be of different sizes, have no elements, or contain a single element. They can be used to organize data or sorting information. They also aid in studying patterns. Sets can be categorized in a variety of ways, including by size and shape.
The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom provides an array of set items that can be upgraded. Some items are worth upgrading, while others aren't. Upgrades are worthwhile for armor sets that offer high defense value and set bonuses. Weapon upgrades aren't as effective in boosting stats as their counterparts in purple. This makes them less appealing to upgrade if your collection of weapons and armor pieces is already large.
Some set items are upgraded for their own unique functions, which can be particularly useful in some builds. This is evident in Aldur's Advance Boots and Guillaume's Face. Both were upgraded from Exceptional Winged Helm and Exceptional Mirrored Boots respectively, boosting their defense by 217 to 321 (Strength requirement and Level requirement increased as well).
Another reason for upgrading certain items is to bring them into the same level as their counterparts in their tiers. The Immortal King Set, for instance, comes with a wide range of levels, from 29 to 75. Upgrades to lower-level items can improve their defense, and increase their competitiveness in terms of damage.
Clicking the Upgrade button will display the attributes of the item as well as the necessary items needed to upgrade it. The item's attributes will be displayed as well as any necessary items. For example, the No-mouth Face will require 1.1K Scrap Materials and 250 Enchanted Dust, and 5 Glowing Shards to upgrade. Players can also check the upgrade requirements for specific items at the Cyrodiil Golden vendor or Leaderboard.
Generally speaking the jewelry and weapons have better trade value when fully upgraded than armor. Particularly, for weapons that feature damage glyphs that are spell-like or weapon-related and are upgraded to gold is recommended because it will result in a significant increase in their performance. It will also boost the defense of armor that has an updated look.
